At the May ERAC meeting the members agreed to conduct a short (5 minute) briefing by district discussing current initiatives and professional development offerings to help us better understand “where we are, why we’re there and how we can move forward collaboratively”. These briefings will be shared at the June ERAC meeting. We further agreed that those interested in sharing with the group prior to the meeting should do so.

Hi All, I want to be the first to christen this blog. Pawling’s major professional development initiatives include supporting all students through: co-teaching, Response to Intervention, creating balanced literacy environments and increasing the effective use of technology throughout the District. We appreciate any input and support we can get. Sonya

Hi All I am trying to use this to reach out. Just some thoughts and questions and updates .. I look forward to our traveling meetings and to learning more about what everyone is doing. In the meantime, I just want to share something I just discovered. Substitute teachers who hold an Initial Certificate and are working in a district for over 40 days are required to have a mentor. Perhaps you all knew this already but it came as news to me. We are working on modifying our current mentor program to address the needs of this unique group. If you are providing service to this group of teachers already I would love to hear about what you are doing. I am also interested in how ARRA and Stimulus money is being handled. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Sonya
